A Pond Pump is not really a “type” of pump i.e. it does not have to use a particular type of mechanical action to pump but many of the pond pumps being used specifically to pump water out of a pond are of the submersible type.  Ponds need maintenance and supplies to keep  them healthy and avoid anything disastrous to home owners or some commercial interest.

There is a whole industry revolving around Pond Pump products which  include Pond Kits, Lighting, Liners, Bridges, Fish , Skimmers , pond aerators, water treatement , filters, aquatic plants,  décor , garden fountains and the list goes on.

A very common device used by those who are involved in fish tank maintenance is the Aquarium Pump.  This is actually a mini electrically driven Air Pump which  pushes air through tubing to decorative filters and ornaments as well as to add oxygen to the water and increase agitation to avoid stagnation.
